When looking at styles of Masthead, it is important to make it stand out as it is one of the main things that pop out to the reader. The style must suit the magazine to make it appropriate to what the reader is reading. A professional masthead will do this and pop out to the reader as it is one of the biggest texts on the page.

There are different types of text when coming up with a type of text for a masthead. The Examples shown below:
Sans Serif is a more standing out informal style of text because it stands out and seems to be more of a mainstream text used in the genre of magazine i will be creating. (WE <3 POP as an example above).
Serif is a more formal style of text. It can be thin and narrow text to make it stand out (for example ELLE shown below) and can attract a older audience by the way the text is presented. This text can also make the audience think that the magazine is trustworthy and has relevant information that you want to read in it.
Typography
When looking at typography, it is important to let the audience tell that it is specific to the type of magazine or media. For example, a horror theme could be used in the image below.
The point of Typefacing is that it can show the same word but depending on how it is presented it can give off a different effect to the viewer (The examples above).
Typography is very important because it can make the audience think about what magazine it is just by the masthead style which is important to a pop genre magazine because i don't want my audience to get the wrong idea about my magazine just by looking at the front cover.
By 'Character spacing' it means the difference between the letters. For example in the magazine "ELLE" below.
As can be seen. The distance between each letter can be easily read by the viewer but not too difficult so that the reader doesn't know what the word says. The space between the title has allowed space for more text which can help if there is a lot you wish to put on the page. If the letters were very spread out, then it could be very difficult for the reader to read. For example:
C o m i c B o o k
As you can see it takes longer for the reader to read rather than:
C o m i c B o o k
Another example is "Billboard Magazine" the characters are close together and are still able to be read. A pop magazine should have a very clear to read title because it is very mainstream to be simplistic and stylish and the titles are commonly aesthetically pleasing to the magazines audience.
