Since i decided to make a pop music magazine, I am basing my magazine on males and females from the ages of 12-30. This is because pop music is mainstream and this is the kind of age range that is interested in the latest gossip, news and music. This means that they will be drawn into my magazine more than someone that is outside that age range. Because my genre is pop i will have to aim my magazine at 'mainstream' people which are mentioned in the 'Young and Rubicam' model. This means that my magazine will have to be at the same quality as a mainstream magazine. These people may live in cities or very urbanised areas where there is a large number of people and their lifestyle tends to slightly revolve around the latest fashion and gossip. This audience fits into the categories D, C1 or C2 in the socio-economic scale. These are groups from working class to lower middle class as we believe our magazine can appeal to people from many different class groups.
The genre i have chosen is pop and this is because this is the kind of music i listen to and so it will be easier for me to make a magazine of something that i am interested in.
This is an example of a mainstream person. They tend to follow the crowd and try to fit in with clothes styles etc. They commonly are not very creative in their style.
They make up most of the population and are typically like-minded.
